Plan B. LSAT

My dad always said, " you should be a lawyer."  I didn't disagree with him but he came to this conclusion right after I finished my MBA.  For godness sake! Give a girl a break.

But here I am another layoff. And in the meantime I've grown a lot as an individual and I realize a law degree isn't such a bad idea.

For the past five years I've been involved in a legal battle within my community.  I'm constantly working with lawyers and  I probably could've saved a ton of money if I had just an ounce more of legal knowledge.  So why not?

The first step is to take the LSAT. Then apply to law school. So that's my plan. I'm back at my office at Panera.

Test is Sept 16.  Giddy up.

Taking a test

So last week I took a preliminary test.  I must have done well because I have been called to take the next step in the process.

If I get this job, it is a foot in the door and that's what I have to do.
Working through my little lists of getting my life together.  Its slow going, but it is happening.

A dream...what does it mean?

I wake up today with the crazy dream.  Running through the city of NY topless.  I'm running for a presentation for the entire company.  Running to get an outfit that I needed to wear.  Running out of time... Then I was wearing a sweater and my pants were not buckled.  When I try to give the presentation, nobody is listening.  Then they are listening...but I was out of sorts and then was like why the hell do I care.  I don't work for this company.    Someone from Senior Management is asking a question, but I don't care because I am not working there.

I woke up...mad.

Funny thing.  Except for the toplessness, it reminded me of our offsite back in October.  I ran for the bus in the city, because I was late. Only to sit in a rest stop for an hour, while the big bosses assistant makes us wait for her cab to meet us there.

Then giving a presentation, in front of senior management who didn't care.  It was a fake show and I was annoyed I had to even do it.  Then becoming flustered, because I really didn't want to be there.  Plus Rudy was giving me the "Hurry up you are boring me hand signals and eye rolls.  And when I finally made it to the end, Rudy saying, "we have to see if we want to do these programs next year."

I was mad then too.  Rudy told me, "good presentation."  And I was like, "sorry, I was losing steam at the end."  She said, "You did a good job, what's the matter?" I don't know...maybe you were rolling your eyes... " I wish the numbers were better."  What a joke.

--------------
Topless
To dream that you are topless signifies your way of showing and exhibiting love. You may be inviting love toward your direction.
Presentation
To dream that you are giving a presentation symbolizes the way you want to "present" yourself to the public. You are working on your image and how you portray yourself.

To dream that you are running away from someone indicates an issue that you are trying to avoid. You are not taking or accepting responsibility for your actions. In particular, if you are running from an attacker or any danger, then it suggests that you are not facing and confronting your fears.
To dream that something or someone is running towards you refers to your willingness to confront any situation head on. You need to analyze the significance of what is running towards you. If you are the one running towards someone or something, then it refers to your determination to go after what you want. Consider who or what you are running towards for additional analysis.
To dream that you are trying to run but cannot make your feet move as fast as you want them to signifies lack of self-esteem and self-confidence. It may also reflect your actual state of REM paralysis during the dream state.
To dream that you are running alone refers to your determination and motivation in the pursuit of your goals. You will find success and rise above those around you. Alternatively, the dream may mean that you need to hurry up in making a decision.
To dream that you are running with someone signifies cooperation.

Anger
To dream that you are holding or expressing anger symbolizes frustrations and disappointments in your Self. You tend to repress your negative emotions or project your anger  onto others. You need to look within yourself.
Being angry in your dream may have been carried over from your waking life. Dreams function as a safe outlet where you can express your strong and/or negative emotions. You are suppressing your anger and aggression, instead of consciously acknowledging them. TOP

Day 1 of my new life

Here's a few things that are different about this layoff.
1) I wasn't the only one.
2) I was towards the top of the food chain.  I had staff to worry about.  Thankfully no survivors guilt.
3) Those who are left are incredibly kind.  I think they know company is serious about things.
4) Elastic was in financial crisis.  The cut was business.
5) I have more contacts now than ever before.

Its funny. I look back at my original Elastic posts.  Nothing really different from when I first landed there except we had 2 good years.  The big boss aka "Rudy" is more interested in her blog and just about anything else that doesn't help the bottom line.   Bring her the facts and she asks a question you would have never predicted, and doesn't matter.  For example, if you tell her most of our customers purchase 3 times in a year, she wanted to know if they were wearing sneakers when they ordered.  It was just about impossible and the future looked pretty dim, even if I could have stayed on.

So today is a new day.  Here was my plan:

The first 3 were soooo easy.  I got up, I sent out good morning text to my former co-workers and got on with my walk.

Instead of taking the normal route, I walked to the beach, up Seaview to  Hylan Blvd. I saw this great house across from the hospital...with great signs all over it. Below is one of my favorites.  Then I stopped at Walgreens, Met Foods and then headed home.

Accomplished 6 miles.  Then I cleared up the corner of some crap that I have been avoiding (moved upstairs to deal with later...lol) and now I am working on my resume.   Not bad for my first day of my new life.

You'll never guess what happened today. 2017

Well, I can't believe it but I have been downsized again.  I knew it was coming, I could feel it in my bones.  But I thought I made it...Then I didn't.

Anyway...I'm unemployed again.  Downsized. But never out.
